On Thursday, 20 November in the upper room of the Hearst Free Library from 6:00 – 7:30p is a public meeting regarding the Georgetown Railroad cleanup. The meeting will be lead by Bob Wintergerst of the Forest Service. It is important to have a strong representation of local recreationalist at this meeting.
This cleanup could potentially be the first step to establishing a trail from Anaconda to Georgetown Lake. Numerous agencies will be involved including the County, MT Department of Transportation, Atlantic Richfield Company, the Forest Service, and private land owners. It will be a multi-year effort, but this trail has the potential to provide numerous positive impacts within Anaconda-Deer Lodge and Granite Counties specifically in the areas of public health and safety, community vitality, and economic stability.
We hope you will attend and bring as many people with you as possible! Below is a map we received during our last meeting with the National Forest Service regarding this exciting project.
